Working as a mathematician on the creation of new orthonormal bases for pleasure and potential applications, I did not imagine that I would find myself few years later, deeply buried under stress, leading a start-up trying to penetrate the world of high definition televisions, dominated by Asian companies. This trip was a discovery of engineering, marketing, venture capitalists, negotiation, but also of the amazing power of mathematics for industrial innovation, which I will try to convey through this talk.
