The talk will introduce the main activities of CITCEA -UPC in the context of power systems dominated by renewable generation and power electronics. The talk will introduce the work on overall system stability analysis, focusing on the impact of power electronics in the overall system stability. Shortcircuit calculations considering converter limitations will be presented also suggesting a grid equivalent representation. The talk will include work on the design of power converters for high power applications including HVDC . Hybrid AC/DC systems will be addressed to consider the concept of grids of grids and the problem of role-assignment for interconnecting power converters.
