As images become larger and processors faster, new image compression techniques will need to be implemented in hardware to accommodate this. For system designers, it is difficult to know how a particular algorithm will perform based on system parameters. The purpose of this talk is to introduce some initial results about predicting power and execution time using high-level algorithm and system parameters on the NIOS 2 processor.
