If you have a question about this talk, please contact Fei Teng. abstract: The first half of the presentation will briefly revisit the challenges and solutions to the conventional (deterministic) security-constrained optimal power flow (SCOPF) problem and then discuss some under-addressed issues. Next the second half of the presentation will discuss the future needs and associated challenges to expand the scope of SCOPF for sustainable power systems, that incorporate among others: renewable energy sources uncertainty, operation of energy storage systems and TSO -DSO coordination mechanisms. Bio: Florin Capitanescu received the Electrical Power Engineering degree from the University “Politehnica” of Bucharest, Romania, in 1997 and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Liege, Belgium, in 2003. Since 2015, he has been with Luxembourg Institute of science and technology (LIST) as a senior researcher. His main research interests include the application of optimization methods to operation of transmission and active distribution systems, particularly optimal power flow approaches, power system security, voltage instability, and smart sustainable buildings. This talk is part of the Control and Power Seminars series. This talk is included in these lists:
