In this talk we will look in more detail at the E-Method. Developed back in the 1970s, the E-Method is a generic function evaluation technique. Using it, we can easily evaluate both polynomial and rational approximations to the target function. For rational approximations, there is no need for division, so this makes the E-Method particularly interesting for the hardware context. Therefore, we will evaluate the usefulness of this technique in the context of FPG As, as well as introduce the most recent advancements on the topic.
