If you have a question about this talk, please contact Patrick Kelly. This talk will present recent research output on novel recharging schemes for electric vehicles carried out at the DEEE , Imperial College London. Two algorithms will be presented. The first algorithm will show a possible use of EVs recharging strategy for frequency regulation. The second algorithm will present two approaches to avoiding congestion in a secondary distribution system as EVs recharge. The first algorithm is based on a distributed allocation of recharging rates with frequency regulation and distributed computation of an incentive policy. It is based on calculating proportionally fair recharging rates of EVs and requires only binary information on local measured frequency drifts. The second algorithms build a congestion avoiding recharging schedule. This recharging schedule is an alternative approach to existing ones and it is based on particle systems, where the static equilibrium of a fluid system is used to plan a recharging schedule.
