An exciting development over the last year and a half has been the release of hardware and tools from two major FPGA vendors, Xilinx and Altera, that support the Open Compute Language (OpenCL), a heterogeneous computing standard. In this talk I will present a brief introduction to OpenCL itself, as well as the tools from these two vendors, using a simple example of a scaled vector-vector sum.
