C++ is becoming the language of choice for Higher Level Synthesis (HLS). Templates are one feature often neglected by designers, often due to unfamiliarity with exactly what they can be used to accomplish. By operating at compile time, they are inherently synthesisable and provide flexibility often not otherwise possible within the HLS subset of the language. This talk aims to be a general introduction to templates and template-based design with a focus on use cases applicable to HLS designs.

This talk is part of the CAS Talks series.
