They are the development partner of choice to many of the world’s leading blue chips, as well as the virtual development team for ambitious start-up companies. The speaker, Dr Symon Cotton is the leader of our Medical Technology Electronics group at Cambridge Consultants. He is a project manager and technologist actively involved in the development of medical devices for a range of blue chip companies. Symon trained originally in Physics before undertaking a Masters degree in Computer Science at Birmingham University. After working as a software engineer for two years Symon returned to University to undertake a PhD in medical imaging where the combination of physics and robust software engineering led to development of a novel optical system for investigating skin cancers. Following his PhD Symon founded and ran a series of novel startup companies to exploit the intellectual property generated during the PhD, playing a key role operating at board level, raising finance, managing intellectual property and driving product development.
