In this talk, I will introduce the research areas of CAD group in Nano-Integrated Circuits and Systems Lab, EE Dept., Tsinghua University. The first research topic is the power and reliability aware design methodology along with the CMOS technology scaling, in which we focus on the modeling and mitigation techniques for leakage power and NBTI induced aging effect for nano-scale integrated circuits. The second research topic is how to design application specific hardware (multi/many-core) systems. We have tried to look at some interesting applications, and efficiently mapped them onto different hardware to get better energy/power efficiency. I will talk about a little bit more on our open source parallel implementation of sparse LU decomposition on both CPU and GPU (www.nicslu.weebly.com). For the third research direction, we try to explore the possible computation model of the future energy efficient computing system by leveraging the computation power of new devices. I will show you some progress on the approximated computation using memristor, and what we want to do in the next step.

Bio: Yu Wang is an Associate Prof. in EE Dept, Tsinghua University. He received his B.S. degree in 2002, and then Ph.D. degree with honor in 2007 from Tsinghua University. Dr. Wang’s research mainly focuses on parallel circuit analysis, low power and reliability aware system design methodology, and application specific hardware computing, especially for brain related topics. Dr. Wang has authored and co-authored over 90 papers in refereed journals and conferences. Among them, he received best paper award in ISVLSI 2012 , best poster award in HEART 2012 , and 5 best paper nominations (ISLPED 2009, CODES 2009 , 2*ASPDAC 2010, ASPDAC 2012 ). He is also TPC members for various VLSI /CAD conferences (DATE, ASPDAC , ISLPED, ISQED , and etc), and serves as TPC co-Chair in ICFPT 2011 , Finance Chair of ISLPED 2012 /2013, TPC Secretary of ASPDAC 2013 , Publicity Chair of ISLPED 2010 .
