Introduction to face detection methods

Face detection has drawn significant attention from researchers in computer vision area due to its enormous applications in security, human-machine interface etc. Obviously, a desired face detection technique has to be robust enough to be completely independent of surrounding scenes and the pose/expression of the face and, at the same time, provide real-time performance. In the past decade various methods have been developed aiming to this goal. This talk will give a brief introduction on common methods of face detection available, what has been achieved and what remains a challenge to the community.
